IVDP - The Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro and Porto is the public institute, integrated in indirect administration of the State, with the mission to promote the control of the quality and quantity of Port wines, regulating the production process, as well as the protection and defense of the Douro and Porto denominations of origin and Duriense geographical indication.

Helio Loureiro is an acclaimed Portuguese chef with over thirty years of experience. After starting at the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Oporto, Helio Loureiro quickly became known for his work in some of the most prestigious hotels in Paris, Munich and Brussels, and his promotion of several gastronomic festivals throughout the world. 

Gourmand and researcher, Helio Loureiro is an expert in the art of cooking with strong ties to the wine world. He is an author of more than twenty gastronomy books, including cookbooks, healthy eating, and guides to gastronomy. His work has been recognized with awards, nominations, and accolades, both national and international, including: 

  • Awarded Officer of the Order of Merit, by President of the Republic, Jorge Sampaio 2004 
  • Awarded Gold Sports Merit Medal by the Portuguese Football Federation for his work during the 2004 European Football Championship 
  • Awarded Medal of Merit from the Municipalty of Port for his contribution given to the diffusion of Gastronomy and the City
  • Elected Chef of the Year by a specialty magazine 1995 
  • Elected Head of the Year, Portuguese Gastronomic Academy 2003
